Publication Ethic

Literasiana : Journal of Library Information Literacy and Education

Literasiana is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must agree to the following ethical obligations.

A. Duties of Authors

1. Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Any use of the work or words of others must be appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all forms (i.e., copying, paraphrasing, or reproducing without attribution) is unethical and unacceptable. All submitted manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using reliable software.

2. Data Fabrication and Falsification
Authors must present their findings honestly and accurately. Fabricating or falsifying data, results, or conclusions constitutes serious ethical violations.

3. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submission
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. It is also unethical to publish a manuscript that describes essentially the same research in more than one journal.

4. Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must acknowledge the work of others and cite publications that have influenced the direction or content of their submitted manuscript. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.

5. Authorship of the Paper
Only persons who have made significant intellectual or scientific contributions to the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors must have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors are included and have reviewed and approved the manuscript.

6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be construed as influencing their research or the interpretation of their findings. All sources of financial support for the research should be disclosed.

7. Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

B. Duties of Editors

1. Publication Decisions
Based on the review report of the editorial board, the editor-in-chief is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

2. Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

3. Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher.

4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

5. Involvement and Cooperation in Investigations
Editors must take responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper. They will work closely with the publisher to resolve such matters.

C. Duties of Reviewers

1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through the editorial communication with the author, may also assist the author in improving the manuscript.

2. Promptness
Any invited reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should immediately notify the editor and decline the invitation.

3. Confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

4. Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

5. Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.

6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the manuscript.

D. Duties of the Publisher (Wahid Hasyim University Press)

1. Handling of Unethical Behavior
The publisher is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher will take all appropriate measures to rectify the situation.

2. Access and Repository
The publisher ensures that all published content is preserved and remains accessible through digital archiving and repository partnerships.

3. Promotion of Ethical Standards
The publisher supports the editors in reviewing and addressing ethical issues, including confidentiality, consent, and authorship disputes.

E. Sanctions for Violations

If evidence of unethical behavior is found:

  • During review: The manuscript may be rejected without further review.

  • After publication: A retraction, correction, or expression of concern will be issued.

  • Severe cases: The authors may be banned from submitting to Literasiana for a specified period, and the case may be reported to the authors' institution.
