Peer Review Process
Peer Review Process
The peer review process of Medicomplementary Journal is designed to ensure the academic integrity, methodological rigor, and overall quality of all published manuscripts. This process follows a structured sequence of evaluation and revision to maintain high scholarly standards:
-
Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. All manuscripts must comply with the journal’s scope, focus, and formatting requirements prior to further evaluation. -
Initial Screening by the Editorial Team (1 week)
The Editor-in-Chief or assigned handling editor conducts a preliminary assessment of the manuscript to verify its alignment with the journal’s aims and scope, adherence to ethical guidelines, and compliance with formatting instructions. Manuscripts failing to meet these criteria may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected without external review. -
Peer Review by Expert Reviewers (6–8 weeks)
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers with subject matter expertise. Reviewers evaluate the scientific merit, methodological soundness, originality, validity of data, significance of results, and appropriateness of the literature cited. This step may take six to eight weeks, depending on reviewer availability and response time. -
Author Revision (up to 4 weeks)
Based on reviewer comments, authors are invited to revise and resubmit their manuscripts. Authors must address all feedback systematically and provide a point-by-point response to reviewers’ recommendations. A maximum of four weeks is given for this revision process. -
Final Editorial Decision (2 weeks)
The handling editor evaluates the revised manuscript and reviewer feedback to make a final decision. Outcomes may include acceptance, further revision, or rejection. Final decisions are typically made within two weeks after receiving the revised manuscript. -
Publication (1 week)
Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, layout formatting, and proofreading before being published online. The publication process is typically completed within one week of acceptance.
Medicomplementary Journal publishes issues twice a year, and the complete timeline from submission to publication generally spans 1 to 4 months, depending on the complexity of revisions and review turnaround times.
