Focus and Scope
Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas — published by the Center for the Study and Development of Islamic Sciences or called “Pusat Kajian dan Pengembangan Ilmu-ilmu Keislaman” (PKPI2) of Islamic Faculty, Wahid Hasyim University Semarang, focuses on advancing scholarly discussions in the field of Islamic education. It serves as a platform for academic contributions that explore theoretical and practical aspects of teaching and learning within Islamic educational contexts. The journal welcomes original research, conceptual papers, and case studies in the following areas:
- Islamic Education – Examining philosophical, historical, and contemporary issues in Islamic education, including curriculum development, educational policies, and pedagogical innovations.
- Teaching and Learning in Islamic Education – Investigating methodologies, strategies, and assessment techniques in Islamic education at various levels, including formal, non-formal, and informal settings.
- Inclusive Islamic Education – Exploring approaches, challenges, and best practices in integrating inclusive education principles within Islamic educational institutions, with a focus on accessibility, equity, and support for diverse learners.
- Moderate and Multicultural Islamic Education – Analyzing the role of Islamic education in promoting moderation, tolerance, and intercultural dialogue, as well as its contributions to global citizenship and social harmony.
This journal aims to contribute to the academic discourse by fostering innovative ideas and research that enhance the quality and inclusivity of Islamic education worldwide.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to this journal must follow focus and scope, and author guidelines of this journal. The submitted manuscripts must address scientific merit or novelty appropriate to the focus and scope. All manuscripts must be free from plagiarism contents. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking. Editors check the plagiarism detection of articles in this journal by using a Turnitin software. The research article submitted to this journal will be peer review at least 2 (two) or more expert reviewers. Review process employs Double-blind Review (Double Anonimous blind Review) that the reviewer does not know the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewer. Final decision of articles acceptance will be made by Editor in Chief according to reviewers comments. Publication of accepted articles including the sequence of published articles will be made by Editor in Chief by considering sequence of accepted date and geographical distribution of authors as well as thematic issue.
Publication Ethic
Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas, is a peer-reviewed journal, published biannually by PKPI2 Islamic Faculty, Universitas Wahid Hasyim Semarang Indonesia. It is available both in print and online as an open access source.. The following section clarifies the ethical behavior of all the parties involved in the act of publishing an article in the journal, including the author, editor-in-chief, the editorial board, the reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors
The submitted article is original, research-based, unpublished, and not currently under evaluation for prospective publication in other journals.
Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas is essential for the creation of a coherent and reputable network of knowledge. It directly reflects the quality of the authors' work and the institutions that support them. The scientific methodologies are supported and embodied by peer-reviewed articles. It is consequently essential that all parties engaged in the publication process—the authors, the editors, the reviewers, the publisher, and the society—agree on principles of required professional ethics. As the publisher of Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas, the publisher takes its responsibilities of guardianship over all stages of publication seriously and is aware of its other ethical and legal obligations. The publisher is dedicated to ensuring that advertising, reprint charges, and other types of commercial revenue have no effect on editorial decisions.
Publication Decisions
The editorial board of Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas determines which of the manuscript submissions will be published. Validation of the work in question and its significance to researchers and readers must always be the determining factor in such judgments. The editors may be influenced by the journal's editorial board's rules and be bound by the applicable legal requirements for libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editors may consult with additional editors or reviewers before coming to a decision.
Fair Play
A manuscript is always evaluated for its intellectual substance, regardless of the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic background, citizenship, or political ideology.
Confidentiality
The editors and any editorial staff members are prohibited from disclosing any information on a submitted article to anybody other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists the editor(s) in making editing judgments and, through editorial communications with the author(s). It may also help the author(s) in enhancing the manuscript.
Promptness
If a referee feels unqualified to evaluate the research provided in a submission or believes that a timely evaluation is impossible, he or she must contact the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Any submitted manuscripts must be considered as confidential documents. They cannot be displayed to or discussed with anyone without the editor's authorization.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
The reviewers should identify relevant previously published works that were not referenced by the authors. Any assertion that a certain observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported must be backed by the appropriate citation. A reviewer should also bring to the editor's notice any significant overlap or resemblance between the manuscript under consideration and any other published article of which they are personally aware.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Confidential information or ideas received by peer review must not be exploited for personal benefit and must be kept private. The should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the manuscripts.
Duties of Authors
Reporting standards
The author(s) of submissions on original research must include an accurate account of the work conducted and an objective analysis of its importance. In the manuscript, underlying data should be appropriately described. A publication should provide sufficient information and citations to allow others to reproduce the study. False or intentionally incorrect remarks represent unethical conduct, and are thus unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
The authors should verify that their works are entirely original, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, that they have cited or referenced them correctly.
Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication
In general, an author should not submit the manuscript(s) containing remarkably similar research to more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to many journals simultaneously is unethical and improper publishing behavior.
Acknowledgment of Sources
At all times, the work of others must be properly acknowledged. The authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.
Authorship of the Manuscript
Authorship should be restricted to those who contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. As co-authors, all people who have made important contributions should be listed. Others should be thanked or identified as contributors when they have contributed to specific substantial areas of the research effort. The corresponding author must ensure that all acceptable co-authors are listed on the article, that no inappropriate co-authors are listed, and that all co-authors have viewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and have consented to its submission for publication.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should state in their submission any financial or other substantial conflicts of interest that might be regarded as having an influence on the findings or interpretation of their manuscript. Disclosing all sources of financial assistance for the project is required.
Fundamental errors in published works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his or her own published work, the author must promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and work collaboratively with the editor to retract or correct the manuscript.
Publication Frequency
Jurnal PROGRES: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas published at first Vol. 1, No. 1, 2013 biannually in october. However, since Vol. 6 No. 1, 2018, the journal’s publication schedule changed biannually in June and December.
Screening of Plagiarism
Articles submitted to Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas will be filtered using Turnitin software, with a maximum of 25% similarities permitted.
Plagiarism includes:
- Word-for-word plagiarism – borrowing another author’s language word-for-word but not putting it in quotation marks or citing it correctly.
- Source plagiarism – using the ideas of others without giving recognition or citing the source explicitly.
- Plagiarism of authorship – presenting another author's work as one’s own.
- Self-plagiarism - authors publishing an article in more than one journal by recycling papers. The important issue related to self-plagiarism is that when citing one's own work, significant changes must have been made to the new article. The previous article should only contain a small percentage of any new article produced. So readers will receive new information, which tmay inspired by but different from the previous articles.
Reference Manager Usage
The manuscript that is registered must use the manager's reference application: Mendeley or Zotero.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas is compliant with I4OC standards for open citations which means all content is available free of charge at no cost to users or institutions.

- Authors should critically assess the appropriateness of using AI tools in line with their research objectives, particularly in terms of tool accuracy, reliability, and compatibility with the field of islamic Educations
- Results derived using AI assistance must be validated using standard research protocols to ensure scientific rigor and reproducibility.
- The journal encourages the use of interpretable AI models and tools that offer explainable outputs to support clarity in research methodology and foster a deeper understanding of the findings.
Academic Integrity and Originality
- Any assistance from AI must be transparently acknowledged in accordance with accepted academic citation standards.
- Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas must reflect the authors’ original contributions, analytical thinking, and scientific creativity, and should not rely solely on AI-generated content or formulations.
Transparency in Peer Review and Collaboration
- Authors are expected to disclose AI usage during the peer review process and when engaging with co-authors or collaborators. This ensures transparency and supports academic dialogue.

For Reviewers

Reviewers are fully responsible for the content of their reviews.

Editors must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and refrain from uploading them into generative AI tools to avoid violating confidentiality and privacy rights.
Archiving
Jurnal Progress: Wahana Kreativitas dan Intelektualitas utilizes the Public Knowledge Projects Private LOCKSS Network (PKP-PLN) system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
