Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of social-emotional competence of theme 8 Praja Muda through project-based learning (PjBL) of grade 3 students. The subjects of this study were all grade 3 students of SD Negeri Sidorejo Lor Salatiga. The type of research is classroom action research (PTK). The research model is from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The research procedure consists of 2 cycles, each cycle consists of three stages, they are planning stage, implementation stage, observation stage, and reflection stage. The data collection technique uses non-tests in observation form and questionnaires. The research instrument is in observation form sheets and statement items. The data analysis technique is comparative quantitative technique in percentages form. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the social-emotional competence of the Praja Muda Karana theme through project-based learning (PjBL) in grade 3 students. The social-emotional competence of grade 3 students entered the criteria of very good, increasing after receiving PjBL learning, namely 36% of 28 students during the pre-cycle and cycle 1 increasing to 61% of 28 students and cycle 2 to 82% of 28 students. PjBL can improve the social-emotional competence of theme 8 Praja Muda Karana through the following steps: 1) making basic questions for theme 8 Praja Muda Karana, 2) designing a project plan carried out by teachers and students, 3) making a project implementation schedule with an agreement between teachers and students, 4) teachers monitor students in project development activities, 5) teachers assess the results of student projects, 6) evaluation. It is proven that the PjBL steps can improve the social-emotional competence of theme 8 entitled Praja Muda Karana for grade 3 students
