Abstract
This article discusses Indonesia's crucial role in shaping a sustainable international maritime regime by balancing environmental conservation and economic development. As an archipelagic country with vast marine resources, Indonesia faces various challenges and opportunities in managing its maritime domain. The article explains the approach Indonesia applies to ensure environmental sustainability while supporting economic growth. The research examines Indonesia's efforts in promoting effective international regulations, strengthening regional cooperation, and implementing domestic policies that support conservation without neglecting the needs of coastal communities and industries. Furthermore, the article highlights Indonesia's steps to address issues such as marine pollution, overfishing, climate change, and sustainable tourism. The research method used is qualitative literature study, analyzing Indonesia's maritime policies and regulations, and their impact on sustainability. The findings show that Indonesia has successfully integrated economic and conservation goals within its national and international policies. This article contributes to previous research by providing deeper insights into Indonesia's sustainability practices and offering valuable lessons for other countries facing similar challenges in managing their maritime resources.
