Serbuk inorganik memainkan peranan penting dalam berbagai bidang yaitu keramik, katalist, obat – obatan, makanan dan lain- lain. Powder preparation adalah langkah yang sangat penting dalam proses pembuatan keramik. Sintesis Hidrotermal termasuk salah satu teknik dari pengkristalan dari temperatur tinggi pada aqueous solutions pada tekanan tinggi. Sintesis hidrotermal dapat didefinisikan sebagai metode sintesis dari kristal tunggal yang tergantung pada kesolutan dari mineral pada air panas dibawah tekanan tinggi. Jenis – jenis sintesis hidrotermal yaitu Hydrothermal crystal growth, Hydrothermal treatment,Hydrothermal alteration, Hydrothermal dehydration, Hydrothermal extraction, Hydrothermal reaction sintering, Hydrothermal sintering, Corrosion reaction, Hydrothermal oxidation, Hydrothermal precipitation—hydrothermal crystallization, Hydrothermal decomposition, Hydrothermal hydrolysis—hydrothermal precipitation, Hydrothermal electrochemical reaction, Hydrothermal mechanochemical reaction, Hydrothermal + ultrasonic, Hydrothermal + microwave, Hydrothermal + ultrasonic.
