DAMPAK KOREAN WAVE TERHADAP PROKRASTINASI AKADEMIK MAHASISWA INSTITUT ILMU AL-QUR’AN (IIQ) JAKARTA

Abstract


Time flexibility during the lecture period has both positive and negative
impacts on students. Problems occur when students cannot manage time and
commit academic procrastination. This is caused, among others, by students
watching Korean wave with the excuse to reduce boredom. This study aims to
determine the impact of Korean wave on academic procrastination of students of
the Jakarta Institute of Al-Qur'an Science (IIQ).
This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research. The
research subjects were 8th semester students of the Institute of Qur'anic Sciences
(IIQ) Jakarta, totaling 8 people. Faculty of Tarbiyah 2 people, Faculty of
Ushuluddin and Da'wah 4 people and Faculty of Sharia 1 person. While data
collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation.
The results showed that the impact of Korean wave on students' academic
procrastination at the Jakarta Institute of Al-Qur'an Science (IIQ) has positive
and negative impacts. The positive impact of Korean wave is that it can improve
mood, reduce stress, increase self-confidence and trigger enthusiasm in doing
assignments. While the negative impact caused is, the weak self-control factor of
his pleasure with the Korean wave, students will be more comfortable and
procrastinate in doing assignments. Individual initiative, namely the weak
motivation within oneself to fight laziness and rise from the comfort caused by
Korean wave. Environmental conditions that are far from parental supervision
make students neglect their duties and become complacent with the Korean wave.
Students tend to postpone tasks because they are too complacent and spend time
watching Korean wave. Students who feel the positive impact of Korean wave are
students who have strong self-control, good time management and high priorities.
Meanwhile, students who feel the negative impact of Korean wave are students
who have weak self-control, poor time management and low priorities.
