Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum requires Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers to develop innovative, contextual, and student-centered teaching modules. However, many existing PAI teaching modules still emphasize content delivery rather than facilitating deep and meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to develop a design for a PAI teaching module based on the principles of Deep Learning within the Merdeka Curriculum. The study employed a library research approach by reviewing scientific journal articles, books, government policy documents, and other relevant literature related to the Merdeka Curriculum, Deep Learning, and Islamic Religious Education. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and synthesis. The findings indicate that a Deep Learning-based PAI teaching module should integrate meaningful learning, critical thinking, collaboration, reflection, and authentic assessment. The proposed module consists of learning identity, learning outcomes, learning objectives, meaningful understanding, guiding questions, learning activities, authentic assessment, enrichment, remedial activities, and student reflection. The developed module supports active, contextual, and meaningful learning while strengthening students’ spiritual, social, cognitive, and practical competencies. Therefore, a Deep Learning-based PAI teaching module offers an innovative alternative for supporting the effective implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum
