Abstrak
Rimpang bangle (Zingiber montanum (J. Koenig)) mengandung senyawa yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan dan antibakteri. Pemilihan metode ekstraksi diperlukan untuk mendapatkan ekstrak sesuai dengan tujuan pembuatan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian awal yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan sebagai peredam radikal bebas 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) dan antibakteri terhadap bakteri Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) dari ekstrak yang diperoleh dengan metode ektraksi maserasi dan Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction (UAE). Maserasi dilakukan dengan merendam serbuk Z. Montanum selama 3 hari menggunakan pelarut etanol (1:6). UAE dilakukan dengan jumlah serbuk dan pelarut yang sama, menggunakan alat sonikasi pada suhu 50℃ selama 30 menit. Masing-masing ekstrak dipekatkan dan diuji aktivitas antioksidan dan antibakteri. Uji aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan uji peredaman radikal bebas DPPH secara spektofotometri. Uji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap MRSA menggunakan metode difusi sumuran. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak Z. montanum menunjukkan nilai IC50 esktrak maserasi lebih baik dari ekstrak UAE yaitu 586,90 dan 945,14 µg/ml. Namun, ekstrak maserasi dan UAE menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap MRSA yang berbeda tidak signifikan dengan diameter zona hambat 0,3492±0,0648 dan 0,4716±0,0652 cm.
